Cabrera
is a beautiful fishing town in the North coast of the
Dominican Republic, which still keeps a pristine condition and low
profile, with traditional Dominican houses and customs. It is
located about 2 hours away from the main capital, Santo Domingo (
using the new Samana express highway ) and about one hour away from
Puerto Plata and its airport. Its close neighbors Nagua and Rio San
Juan are some of the most impressive destinations for eco tourism,
with tropical beaches and lagoons such as the Gri Gri, which a
natural wonder that most tourists like to visit, with daily boat
tours for tourists and locals.
The area has many beautiful beaches of golden sand, some in secluded
areas near rocks and caves. The main beach in the area is next to a
large golf course called Playa Grande,
very similar in design and location to the Pebble Beach course in
California, with many holes right on the ocean. Other beaches in
Cabrera that will leave anyone breathless due to its beauty are
Playa Caleton, Playa
Diamante,
Orchid
Bay beach, Playa Preciosa, El Breton, Playa Entrada, The blue and
Dudu lake and Playa
Grande ( the beach, next to the golf course ). Cabrera has a lot of
green forest area, and its oceanfront land has been used to build
luxury vacation homes and villas.
Several
gated communities with multimillion dollar
properties are already famous
around the world, such as the Orchid Bay Residential. One of the
best attributes
of the Cabrera area is the fact that many high profile tourists have
chosen to live or own a Dominican Republic villa here because of its
serene, undisturbed environment, where you can take a stroll on a
secluded beach or go horse back riding in the mountains, pretty laid
back style. Cabrera is set in the Septentrional mountain range of
the Northeast Dominican Republic and its landscape includes
Cabo Frances Viejo, a natural
reserve that impresses visitors worldwide. The Playa Grande golf
course is part of a large residential development that is taking
place, and besides the private oceanfront villas it will make
Cabrera a key destination not only for high profile travelers, but
also more open to resort tourists.
