Tradition continues, and as each year Puerto Plata hosted its provincial Carnival of multicolored costumes, depicting its cultural heritage dating back hundreds of years. Local Dominican and tourists enjoyed the day long parade set across the ocean drive avenue called El Malecon, lined with coconut trees with blue ocean as the perfect backdrop for the occasion.
Golden Treasures supports the tradition of this Atlantic Coast city and each year the company films and photograph the event to bring it to the world via the various media distribution channels.
Ashley Hatie Lara and Ramon Suarez were elected on Friday as Queen and God Momo of Carnival 2015 in Puerto Plata during a lavish evening held at the club Brugal employees Club.
The activity began with the Cafe Group, which was kept touching his infectious music to the rythm of Oscaira Souffront Reyes, accompanied by a pretty ballet couple to mark the opening. Then Gabriela Villanueva welcomed the audience that filled the aforementioned social center that was the stage for this masterful event where later were presented the candidates for Queen of Carnival 2015 Puerto Plata.
The hosts, Anny Mariel Gomez and Enrique Crespo, presented the candidates to the jury, which included the Governor, Ivan Rivera, Deputy Mayor, Maritza Nunez and municipal council president, Rafael Torres Dario Madera. Also Milka Morales, the Deputy Minister of Tourism in Julio Almonte, the city councilman Emil Duran, the Executive Directors of the Tourism Cluster and Northern Hotel Association (Ashonorte), Yakaira Cid and Ambras Attus; and the Director of Public Relations for Puerto Plata, Mayra Ramon.
Immediately after, the president of Ucapplata, doctor Yanko Souffront called the Deputy Minister Julio Almonte to receive the plate in honor of The DR Minister of Tourism Javier Garcia, to who was the dedication of Carnival 2015 Puerto Plata. The program continued with the crowning of his predecessor, Simeon Reyes (Caquito) the mayor Ramon Suarez, elected god Momo, a character who represents the ridiculous, to which Dr. Souffront gave a plaque. Then the candidates exhibited a set of beautiful costumes.
The contagious activity continued with the interpretation of the theme of Carnival Puerto Plata 2015, entitled “Like the carnival,” authored by Oscar Souffront under Nathanael Guzman and the masterful interpretation of Oscaira Reyes.
The candidates gave continuity to the event with a parade of evening dresses, that led to the election of the eight finalists of the twelve contestants, who were Mariel Martinez, Lee Sarabel Francoise, Ashley Hatie Lara, Slovy Rosario, Maria Jesus Terrero, Katherine Alcantara, Stephanie Batista and Kimberly Liriano.
